Level One Support -
For approximately 80% of young people, the everyday experience of family life, friends, school life and classroom wellbeing programs will be enough to support typical childhood development resulting in flourishing. Everyday life and targeted social emotional prevention strategies provided for all, do the job.
Level TWO Support -
Approximately 15% of young people will experience challenges with their social and emotional development, and may benefit from an extra layer of support from a qualified, experienced, registered counsellor. Prevention/gentle intervention strategies usually overcome most of these 'bumps in the road'.
LEVEL THREE SUPPORT -
Approximately 5% of young people will need more specialist support from a psychologist or other allied health services. These children /teens will need a Mental Health Care Plan from their GP. Often young people at this level can benefit from formal assessment, a diagnosis, formal/structured targeted intervention strategies.
Balanced Kids Counselling supports young people at Level Two. I will always work within my expertise and make a referral to a psychologist if the child’s/teen’s needs are beyond a Level 2 approach. When things get challenging, many children/teens/parents benefit from just a few counselling sessions to get back on track.
